These solid-state drives require the controller to have the characteristics of small size and low power consumption, which can drive NAND flash memory to maximize its potential, while maintaining the rich feature set and reliability required by this enterprise-class NVMe solid-state drive.

Microchip Technology Inc. announced the addition of a new member to the Flashtec series, the Flashtec NVMe 3108 PCIe fourth-generation enterprise-class NVMe solid-state drive controller. The 8-channel Flashtec NVMe 3108 launched this time is a supplement to the 16-channel Flashtec NVMe 3016 and provides a complete set of PCIe fourth-generation NVMe solid-state hard drive solutions to meet various storage requirements in data centers.

Microchip’s new Flashtec NVMe 3108 PCIe fourth-generation NVMe solid-state drive controller supports a variety of compact solid-state drives, featuring high energy efficiency, excellent performance, and high reliability, while providing industry-leading security features. Flashtec NVMe 3108 provides over 1 million input/output (IOPS) per second and continuous bandwidth over 6 GB per second under random workload conditions.

The new solution provides end-to-end enterprise-level data integrity, with high reliability and strict security features, such as secure guidance with a hardware root of trust, to ensure that data center operators can provide the highest level of available data security.

8 programmable flash memory channel controllers are coupled with an extremely powerful error correction engine to support the next generation of high-level three-level cell (TLC) and four-level cell (QLC) NAND technologies, and respond to the needs of future development of memory in advance.

Andrew Dieckmann, Assistant Vice President of Microchip’s Data Center Solutions Division, said: “The PCIe Gen 4 storage ecosystem is expected to be rapidly adopted by data center operators around the world. Therefore, we are very pleased to announce the launch of the new Flashtec NMVe 3108 to help everyone here. Development of new products in the field.

Flashtec NVMe 3108 adopts a compact package, lower energy consumption, and provides enterprises with excellent performance and high reliability. The Flashtec-based solid-state drive solution is optimized. The new solution has a lower capacity point, smaller size, and more powerful Low power consumption characteristics and stronger performance."

The good flexibility of Flashtec NVMe 3108 comes from the programmable multi-core Arm subsystem. After combining multiple hardware acceleration engines, users can optimize their solid state drive solutions to adapt to a variety of applications, including solid state drives that support single-root IO virtualization technology (SR-IOV), partitioned namespace solid state drives, and key-value solid state drives Hard drives and open-channel solid-state drives while maintaining the required performance. In addition, Flashtec NVMe 3108 supports dual-port working mode, providing high-availability solutions for external storage system applications.

Memblaze Technologies Senior Vice President of Product and R&D Zhang Tailor said: "Memblaze is very optimistic about the development prospects of PCIe fourth-generation infrastructure. We will continue to focus on product performance, energy efficiency and reliability. At the same time, we will continue to enrich our product portfolio and expand The series products are upgraded to a new higher-level NAND memory.

Microchip's innovative Flashtec NVMe 3108 NVMe solid-state drive controller provides a high-performance, high-reliability, safe and flexible solution for mainstream applications that are sensitive to cost and power consumption, while benefiting from high-performance NVMe 3016 NVMe solid-state drive control The portability of the device’s firmware will also speed up the time to market for these mainstream applications.”

Flashtec NVMe 3108 is a part of a complete end-to-end suite of storage infrastructure and endpoint solutions developed by Microchip for the fourth generation of PCIe. The kit includes FlashtecNVMe 3016 16-channel NVMe solid state drive controller, Switchtec series PCIe fourth-generation switches and Fabric solutions, and SmartRAID and SmartHBA PCIe fourth-generation three-mode storage solutions.

In addition to storage, Microchip also provides overall system solutions for data center infrastructure manufacturers, including storage, timing and synchronization systems, independent secure boot, secure firmware and authentication, wireless products, and devices for configuring and monitoring data center equipment Touch display and predictive fan controller.
