The MR2900 Series IC modules were introduced in 2002/03/01.

The purpose of the MR2900 Series IC modules is to provide power supply characteristics such as high efficiency and low noise at partial resonance, simplified design for autosensing power supply input, very low power consumption at micro-loads, and elimination of the need for start-up resistors. These modules also feature a thermal shut-down circuit, over-voltage protection circuit, and standby mode control for intermittent operation under light loads to reduce switching losses and standby input voltage under micro-loads. The IC module can switch between normal operation and standby mode, utilizing burst mode for intermittent operation without stopping IC control to minimize output ripple.
