The RT8206A/B controller maintains a relatively constant switching frequency during load transients by utilizing a constant on-time PWM control scheme. This scheme operates without sense resistors and provides a 100ns response to load transients. Additionally, the unique ultrasonic mode of the controller maintains the switching frequency above 25kHz, which helps eliminate noise in audio applications. The controller also features Diode Emulation Mode (DEM) for maximizing efficiency in light load applications and fixed frequency PWM mode for reducing RF interference in sensitive applications.

The purpose of the optional external charge pump in the RT8206A/B controller is to monitor the charge pump through SECFB (RT8206A) using a resistive divider. This allows the detection circuit to force the LGATE1 on for 300ns in the event when SECFB drops below 2V, enabling the charge pump (CP) to recharge and SECFB to rise above 2V. Additionally, in case of an overload on CP where SECFB cannot reach more than 2V, the monitor will be deactivated.

The linear regulator in the RT8206A/B controller provides up to 70mA output current.
