IR touchscreens have traditionally faced three criticisms: size, cost, and ambient light sensitivity. The size and cost concerns have been addressed with new technology and slim packages that decrease bezel height and overall cost. Ambient light sensitivity remains a relevant design challenge, but there are methods to deal with it optically and electrically.
