Can anyone help explain what is the role of R6?

R6 positive feedback accelerates the turn-on and prevents input jitter from causing shutdown.

It is a bit similar to the "hysteresis" circuit, which prevents jitter near the undervoltage point. When the output voltage drops, the acceleration transistor is turned off, and when the output rises, the acceleration transistor is turned on.

R6 is positive feedback, speeding up Q1 to turn on.

It is the positive feedback that promotes the conduction of 431 and also accelerates the conduction of the transistor.
