TSMC has always been a major supplier of computing chips in Apple's various products, and has been continuously investing in improving the process of chips. Apple has always been a lucrative high-quality customer for TSMC, and it can continue to promote the development of the most advanced chip.

Apple has scheduled TSMC’s 3-nanometer chip production.

According to news on December 23, Apple has ordered TSMC’s production capacity of chips based on 3-nanometer technology for use in its iOS products and self-developed computer chips. According to sources, TSMC’s current planning capacity for the 3nm production line is to produce 60 chips per year, or 50,000 per month, and mass production will begin in 2022.

The latest MacBook released by Apple is equipped with an ARM-based M1 processor, and its product strength has been widely praised by the market. The Apple M1 processor is the first to adopt TSMC’s advanced 5nm process, thanks to the close cooperation between the two companies for many years.

Apple gets 80% of TSMC's 5nm production capacity in 2021.

The latest report shows that Apple has accounted for 80% of TSMC's production capacity of all 5nm process chips. The production capacity of the 5nm process will be reserved for Apple's main products, including the A15 Bionic processor that may power the iPhone 13 series that will be launched next year. At present, Apple has monopolized more than 80% of TSMC's 5nm production capacity in 2021. The detailed information mentioned that the third phase of the TSMC factory will start mass production in Q1 of 2021, and can process 9,000 wafers per month. In addition to Apple, Qualcomm, MediaTek, Broadcom and other companies have also obtained 5nm production capacity from TSMC.

Several Apple devices that are expected to be released in 2021 may use TSMC's 5nm node process chips. At the same time, TSMC provides several process versions for different clients, starting with 5nm, then 5nm+, and finally enhanced 5nm.

It has not yet been determined which manufacturing process Apple will use for these device chips. It is said that the iPhone 13 will be available in September next year and may be manufactured using TSMC’s improved N5P process. In the coming year, there will be many products that require powerful chips. It is not surprising that Apple, as a digital consumer goods giant, has obtained 80% of the 5nm advanced process capacity in advance.

TSMC's revenue this year will also hit a record high. As the US puts SMIC on the sanctions list, the foundry market will continue to suffer from insufficient capacity. TSMC's production capacity in 2021 will also continue to be tight, and revenue is expected to hit a record high.
