ST Microelectronics' STM32L412 and STM32L422 microcontrollers (MCUs) feature feature-specific and compact package offering ultra-low-power technology and superior processing performance for cost-conscious consumer, industrial and medical applications.

The new microcontrollers provide designers with more room to break through the constraints of various design resources, whether it is core performance and power consumption constraints, or space size and bill of material cost constraints. By integrating STMicroelectronics' FlexPowerControl (FPC) technology's economical 64KB or 128KB flash memory and 80MHz ARM® Cortex®-M4 processor core, the new microcontroller's energy efficiency and performance meets the best EEMBC® testing in its class. Grade: 273 CoreMark® can increase the processing speed of smart sensors or consumer wearable devices, while 167 ULPMarkTM-PP (Peripheral Profile and 447 ULPMark-CP (Core Profile) test results show that the new product's energy management technology leads the same level Competing products.

Developers can turn these test scores for winning competing products into tangible product advantages, using features such as multiple low-power modes to maximize battery life. The analog peripheral includes two ADCs for performing synchronous acquisition and a comparator that integrates most of the functions of the signal chain on-chip for sensing or heart rate monitoring. In addition, to save component and board space, the new product offers more package options, including 5mm x 5mm LQFP32 or 2.58mm x 3.07mm WLCSP36.

The operating temperature range of -40°C to 85°C or 125°C allows the new product to withstand harsh industrial or medical application environments. Flash Error Correction (ECC) and on-chip SRAM parity hardware enhance system security. The Quad-SPI interface can be connected to high-performance off-chip memory to expand the system's storage capacity. The new microcontrollers are also equipped with a rich set of control peripherals and communication interfaces.

In addition, the outstanding dynamic energy efficiency of the new products ensures excellent performance of smart meters with an operating current of only 28μA/MHz. The new microcontroller integrates ADC, battery domain and backup power domain tamper-resistant inputs, hardware random number generator (TRNG), and the enhanced encryption of the STM32L422 adds AES-256 encryption algorithm support, all of which are guaranteed Accurate measurement of the meter and powerful security features.

By using the STM32 ecosystem's specialized tools, including the STM32CubeL4 software package and the STM32CubeMX initialization code generator and power calculator, developers can immediately develop applications using new microcontrollers. The ecosystem also adds two Nucleo development boards, including the NUCLEO-L412RB-P and NUCLEO-L412KB, which integrate a 64-pin STM32L412 and buck converter with a 32-pin STM32L412 onboard. The new products are covered by ST's 10-year supply guarantee.

The STM32L412 and STM32L422 are available now, including STM32L412K8U6  ,wihch on-chip flash memory up to 128KB in 32-pin to 64-pin package and 64KB flash memory in QFN-32 package.
