In the ESD protection design of signal ground and chassis ground, electrostatic discharge test is required. How to design and select?

At present, I am working on the circuit design of a product. The signal ground and power ground are directly designed in a common ground, and then connected to the chassis ground through a parallel resistor and capacitor, 1000pF/2KV, 1Mohm.

But recently I was told that the product needs to be tested for electrostatic discharge. The 8KV case is tested. The capacitor I checked is only 5KV withstand voltage. After the test, only two capacitors can be connected in series. There is no way to equalize the series capacitors.

Under experienced exchanges, electrostatic discharge testing is also a very routine test. How should we design and select?

It’s better to increase the withstand voltage of the capacitor a bit. Seen 2KV.

There are special ESD diodes for static electricity. It is easier to find those that meet the requirements of 8KV, and you can add other devices after connecting them.

Mainly increase the ground area (multi-layer board method, try to make each layer a whole piece of ground), and then add more resistance-capacitance components (normal models are sufficient) and TVS tubes.
