Global Foundry, the chip foundry, has signed a $800 million supply agreement with wafer manufacturer Global Wafer.

The news that Global Foundry and Global Wafer signed a $800 million cooperation agreement was announced on the official website of the two companies.

Judging from the news announced by the two companies on their official websites, Global Wafer will increase the production of 12-inch SOI wafers and expand their 8-inch SOI wafer production capacity at the Missouri fab.

The information on the two companies’ official websites also shows that the 12-inch SOI wafers produced by Universal Wafer in Missouri will be supplied to GlobalFoundries’ Fab 8 plant in New York State; the 8-inch wafers produced by the Missouri plant will be supplied to Global Foundry’s Fab 8 plant in New York State. Will supply GlobalFoundries at the Fab 9 plant in Vermont.

Global Foundry's $800 million cooperation agreement with Global Wafer includes a capital expenditure of US$210 million to expand the production capacity of Global Wafer's Missouri plant, which will add more than 75 new jobs.
