The QT1080 charge-transfer QTouch IC can detect near-proximity or touch on up to eight electrodes.

The main application of the QT1080 charge-transfer QTouch IC is for human interfaces, such as control panels, appliances, gaming devices, lighting controls, or anywhere a mechanical switch or button may be found. It can also be used for some material sensing and control applications.

The purpose of the AKS™ Adjacent Key Suppression feature in the QT10charge-transfer QTouch IC is to suppress touch detections from keys that have a weaker signal change than the dominant key within a group of keys. This feature prevents multiple keys from responding to a single touch, especially in cases of closely spaced keys or control surfaces with water films on them. AKS can be enabled via jumper resistors and operates in two modes: Global mode, where only one key can be active at a time across all eight keys, and Group mode, where up to two keys can be active at a time within two groups of four keys each. This feature enhances the performance of the device by ensuring accurate touch detection and preventing interference.
